Ramayana, the mythological epic from Prime Focus Studios, has secured Sony Pictures as its distributor for release outside India, in what is being called one of the biggest international distribution deals for an Indian film.
The film features Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi in lead roles and is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, with music by Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman.
The trailer launch for the film was postponed after the Sony Pictures announcement. Namit Malhotra, founder of Prime Focus Studios, called the deal a historic moment.
The film is expected to release in several languages internationally, including a premium English-language version, aiming for a wide global rollout.
Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions will handle the film’s distribution in India.
