The Supreme Court’s hearing on a plea for a CBI probe into JSSC-CGL recruitment irregularities has been rescheduled to September 16.
The hearing was originally set for September 11 but was pushed back due to security arrangements around the BRICS Summit in Delhi.
Jharkhand’s JSSC-CGL exam was cancelled on August 17 by the state government following a 24-day student protest over alleged irregularities.
A Special Investigation Team has questioned 37 suspects so far, while protesting students continue demanding a CBI probe, saying they distrust the state CID’s investigation.
As of today, no fresh JSSC-CGL exam date has been announced, with candidates urged to watch the official JSSC website for updates.
Soren said investigations had indicated an interconnected network involving multiple companies operating within the recruitment examination system, and directed the state CID to investigate examinations dating back to 2014.
Student leader Devendra Nath Mahato ended a hunger strike in the presence of state ministers Dipika Pandey Singh and Irfan Ansari after the government agreed to the cancellation.
Protesting students’ central demand remains a CBI investigation into the recruitment irregularities, as they say they do not trust the state CID after its earlier probe into the JSSC exam.
A Special Investigation Team formed to investigate irregularities in the JSSC-CGL exam has questioned 37 suspects so far as part of its accelerated inquiry.
The Supreme Court case, titled Harishan Devgan v. State of Jharkhand, includes intervention applications filed by the JPSC JSSC Reform Manch seeking a CBI probe.
The Reform Manch has said the legal battle is not about any single candidate or recruitment advertisement, but about transparency in Jharkhand’s administrative recruitment structure.
Some JSSC-CGL qualified candidates have separately moved court against the exam’s cancellation, arguing it unfairly affects those who cleared the exam without any wrongdoing.
No fresh JSSC-CGL exam date or new notification has been announced by the commission as of today, with aspirants advised to monitor the official JSSC website for updates.
