A 35-run win over Zimbabwe in the third T20I at Harare Sports Club on Sunday gave India a 3-0 sweep of the series. India batted first and put up 192/5, a total Zimbabwe could not chase down, finishing on 157/7.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was the architect of India’s total, scoring 81 off 49 balls at the top of the order. The 15-year-old has now passed fifty twice in this series before turning 16 — a maiden T20I half-century came off 18 balls in the first match, and he added a brisk 20 off 9 balls in the second before Sunday’s 81.
No batter from a full-member Test nation has previously scored two international fifties before the age of 16, making Sooryavanshi’s run of form in this series a notable landmark.
On the bowling side, Mayank Yadav took 3 for 29 to break through Zimbabwe’s middle order and keep the chase under control. Zimbabwe needed 193 to win and fell 35 runs short.
The clean sweep in the T20Is mirrors India’s form earlier in the tour, when they also won the ODI series against Zimbabwe 3-0.
