India’s Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the BHAVYA-Rasayan Scheme on Friday with an outlay of Rs 3,030 crore to build three dedicated Chemical Parks.
Of this amount, Rs 3,000 crore will fund common infrastructure and basic utilities at the parks, while Rs 30 crore is set aside for administrative expenses.
Each park will receive a Centre grant of up to Rs 1,000 crore, conditional on the relevant state government contributing at least Rs 500 crore.
The parks must each occupy a minimum contiguous area of 8 square kilometres, equivalent to about 2,000 acres of encumbrance-free land.
Announced as part of the Union Budget for FY 2026-27, the scheme will be implemented over five years, until FY 2030-31, with the aim of drawing India’s chemical industry into global value chains and reducing import dependence.
The chemical parks are designed to offer plug-and-play infrastructure with shared facilities and utilities.
