CBSE Class 12 supplementary practical examinations for compartment-category students started on Wednesday and will continue until August 4.
These practicals cover students placed in the compartment category owing to a Repeat Practical (RP) or Repeat Theory and Practical Both (RB) requirement in one or more subjects.
Students under the RP category, who failed only the practical component, need to appear only for the practical exam, with their existing theory marks carried forward.
Students in the RB category, required to clear both theory and practical components, must sit both parts of the supplementary examination.
CBSE had asked eligible students to reach out to their school or examination centre by July 27 with their result or marksheet copy and admit card to confirm their schedule.
Regular students will take the practicals at their own schools, while private candidates will appear at the centres allotted for their theory exams, with alternate venues arranged by CBSE regional offices where lab facilities are lacking.
External examiners for the practical exams are appointed solely by CBSE regional offices, while schools appoint internal examiners from their own staff.
Practical marks must be uploaded the same day as the exam and are treated as final once submitted, with no room for later revision.
CBSE generally announces compartment results within three to four weeks of the exams, suggesting a declaration in the first half of August this year, with results to be made available on cbse.gov.in and DigiLocker using roll number, school number, centre number and admit card ID.
The supplementary examination window gives compartment-category students a chance to clear pending subjects within the same academic year, rather than waiting for the next annual cycle.
CBSE typically finalises and uploads Class 12 supplementary results within a few weeks of the exams concluding, allowing eligible students to proceed with college admissions without a long delay.
