His goals came in the 18th, 19th, 37th and 49th minutes.
Shilanand Lakra and Sukhjeet Singh scored two each.
India are the defending champions.

On Monday, September 21, the women’s team followed up with a 17-1 win over Indonesia, with Deepika and Rutuja among those who shone.
The Indian men’s team, the defending champions, began their title defence with a 13-1 win over Indonesia on September 20.

The women’s team are the defending bronze medallists at the Asian Games.

India’s women’s hockey team played the Monday match at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium.
The men’s and women’s teams both started with heavy wins, which can help in pool standings if goal difference is used to separate teams.
The Asian Games are being held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
Big scorelines at this stage reflect the gap between India and lower-ranked teams in the pool, and stronger opponents are expected later in the tournament.
India’s contingent for the Games has 503 athletes competing across 36 sports.
The men’s 13-1 win gave the defending champions a goal difference of plus 12 after their first match.
The women’s 19-0 win gave them a goal difference of plus 19 after their opener.
