An Italian woman’s Instagram video about marrying into an Indian family, and three cultural surprises she encountered, has gone viral online.
The woman, Chrissy Varughese, said her plate was refilled again and again even after she said she was full, describing it as a reflection of how Indian households ensure no guest goes hungry.
She also noted a difference in kitchen etiquette, with Indian families insisting she relax rather than help with cooking or serving, unlike common practice in Italy.
A third observation was directness: relatives commented openly on her appearance, clothing and makeup, which she first mistook for displeasure before realising it reflected warmth and closeness.
The video has gathered millions of views, with many commenters praising Indian family values and noting the directness she described comes from care rather than rudeness.
