Security has been tightened around BJP offices in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of a planned JKNC gherao today.
The ruling JKNC’s move follows the BJP’s announcement of a protest march towards the Civil Secretariat against the NC-led state government.
JKNC has listed constitutional guarantees, restoration of statehood, clearance of the pending reservation file, and Union Government accountability among its core demands driving the protest.
The Srinagar leg of the gherao is scheduled for 10:00 am at Gindun Park near the Rajbagh police station, with a parallel protest planned in Jammu.
Both parties have described their planned demonstrations as peaceful, even as the heavy security presence points to the day being treated as a significant political flashpoint.
The BJP’s planned march is directed at the Civil Secretariat and comes as the party accuses the NC-led state government of failing to act on commitments it says were made in Parliament and before the Supreme Court.
